Hey guys, I want to jump back in with the CCs - perhaps they are at the castle stables? Would that work, do you think? I was going to work with Val, picking up our characters, but his father just passed away and I know he's busy with managing things. Any ideas on how to get back in with them? I'm just not good at politics, and don't know how things would work with getting them back in.

I think you can get them to Cameth Brin, yes - why not? Suppose they have a relative in the castle and decided to spend the winter there, after all.

I had made an aunt that they were heading for, and I could put her in the castle, I suppose. The search tool on this board is really bad - I was trying to find the post where I wrote about the aunt, and it doesn't even highlight the word

Rian, I enjoyed your post and really liked this line, "I suppose you can teach them some tricks, but you can't take the animal out of them." That's our hillmen. ;D

That's our hillmen. ;D Yes, I agree - a very good line, Rian! And, Rian, according to MS Word search engine there is not a single mention of an "aunt" in all the text of "Runnings". It seems you only planned to introduce an aunt but never really did...

aw, rats! Well, she was in my head and never made it to the page, I guess. I know I was talking to Angmar about some possibilities with her being one of Broggha's women, and the CCs getting a bit of a shock when they found her ... Glad you guys liked the post and the "animals" line I thought Arinya would feel about the Hillmen rather as she felt about the out-of-control bear!

Wauuu! That was a great idea to make CC's relative one of Broggha's women. Why not Malaneth? (because Aewen is, after all, the King's own relative - daughter of the Count of Pennmorva -it is unlikely she would have so humble relatives as CC's) But Malaneth is a good choice, especially since she sort of turned evil recently . It opens quite interesting possibilities. Sure Malaneth would be not an aunt but perhaps a cousin. Also, it will make sense then why CC's went North - to seek the rest of their family near Pennmorva. But all the family must have been slaughtered by Broggha. So CC's went to seek the only surviving cousin who was taken by Broggha to Cameth Brin. Perhaps they might even have an idea to rescue her. It would be very interesting, IMO.

yes, I thought it would be interesting, too - I had planned to plot it out with Angmar and then spring it on you guys for fun - and then I moved to Phoenix and dropped it. But I don't think it's too late to pick it up, esp. since you like it. Maleneth it is, if it's OK with Angmar. But I want to keep Caelen unharmed (i.e., un-raped) - you "evil" guys can't have it ALL your own way! Hmm, how about this : since she has auburn hair, like Broggha, she reminds Broggha of his once-beloved little sister? Kinda corny, but I think guys that are ALL bad are boring, anyway. And then he gets crankier because of twinges of guilt over something, like maybe he sold her to some guy he knew was a creep to advance his own goals or something. ANyway, just a really quick idea, and I'm glad to can it or adapt it - but seriously, I do NOT think it's right to have everyone at the mercy of the FOEADs - it's also boring, IMHO. We need to let some air out of his balloon - he's had it too much his own way, I think. Another option was the housekeeper as their long-lost auntie? But I think Maleneth is more fun. Maybe they're working the stables at Broggha's place? GTG get the kids from school - any brainstorming help would be appreciated And seriously, I think we need to get some monkeywrenches in the FOEADs plans - they've been going too smoothly ...

OK, so the little sister reminder thing might be corny, but something like it might work, and I think some twinges of guilt/regret might make B. more interesting. Also, maybe the shaman guy sees Caelen in the moonlight and a stag runs by, or whatever he thinks is a sign, and he tells B. that she's good luck to have around but not to touch or something? Anyway, please come up with something so she won't get molested again. I think wholesale molesting is just not as fun and interesting.

Rian, are you sure you want to place CC's right in Broggha's household? That would be difficult - if you want her unmolested. After all, CC are TARKS, not Hillmen!
Why won't you just make them settle in Cameth Brin, not down in Broggha's estate? Being Dunedain, they would surely find a place to work in the upper fortress. Pure Dunedain are rare, after all. Callon can find work in the King's stables, Caelen in the Palace. Callon can even join the King's guards - why not? They are short of Dunedain men.
Now, suppose while staying at Valandil's (ahem Eryndil's father's) estate CC's learned that their relatives in Pennmorva were all killed and only Malaneth was taken by Broggha to Cameth Brin. Will they go to serve the Hillmen brigand who killed all their family?
Most likely they will come to the fortress, settle there and then they will try to approach Malaneth stealthily - and propose to save her from Broggha.
Sure, considering Malaneth's recent turn "to evil", CC's are in for a nasty surprise. But it will be interesting.
Moreover, placing CC's in the upper fortress has an additional advantage - Caelen can take over Wilwarin's job (as this character is now abandoned by Earniel). Or maybe not... maybe we should better leave Wilwarin to be killed later - when Broggha makes his move to marry Tarniel.
What do you think?
