There is this obscure note 18 in UT the Palantiri I don't really know what it means: too near... It would seem logical to allow a stone to see the close surroundings of its fortress. I forgot about the notes. Still, it is very confusing. Too near for what? Pity Tolkien's writings seems a bit unreadable in this manuscript. Clearly he was still working things out. But if you can't use a Stone for clearly looking closer than say about 500 miles, it loses a lot of use. Not to mention that putting the Stones of Minas Arnor, Minas Ithil and Osgiliath so close together would then be majorly dumb. He must not have been amused when finding out that the Edain had been given a splendid communication and observation device and they used it for spying on girls! Men! ;D

Indeed, great post Serenoli. I'm wondering - do we think Aegnor, Amdír, and Barund should still have been in the hall when all this was going down, or have they retired? I'm going to work on the basis of the latter, unless anyone thinks they should still be there.

I don't have preferences here - do as you think better, Duilin.

As Rian suggested to make some assessment of the upcoming events, I will try to sort it out. Duilin - please, post either about Barund-Aegnor talk on the evening of Nov 15 - or the report Duilin and Aegnor made to Galphant the next day.
It seems we are done with November 15?
Then to November 16. Gimilbeth has nothing special to do this day - unless something new comes out. The important day for her is Nov. 17 - the talk with Malvegil.
What about other characters? I think what we should have on Nov 16 is this Beleg- Herunarth post (s) how the two "boys" start their friendship. Have you decided anything, Val and Duilin?
Earniel: this talk with the Warden about kitchen supplies - are you planning to write it, or it doesn't need to be shown?
Now Rian - you have your two Elves apparently there - though we see nothing of them. Which bothers me: it seems unreasonable that two ancient Noldorin Elves get so little notice from Annundil and the rest. It is impolite - I guess they should have been invited to all the social gatherings. Perhaps you make them meet Gandalf at least? They should know him. Alternatively, you can edit a little and make them go directly to Mithlond or Emin Uial without even visiting Amon Sul - and then return for the Yule. And dear ol' Callon - has he totally forgotten about his sis? Does he enjoy his new freedom?

I wasn't really planning on it, but I might if I have nothing else to write about. Can always do it in flash-back. I had half a mind to do just a little post in a couple of 'game-days' to have some supply-wagons arrive in Amon Sul.

I think my intention is to have a summing up post on the morning of the 16th, where Duilin and Thurisind, and separately Aegnor, report on their conversations of the night before, and everyone strategizes a bit more - Duilin needs permission to do more sneaking about wrt the Palantír chamber (I'm assuming that activity almost directly below the Palantír can't really be seen?) I've been busy of late, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to it, though.
I'd prefer not to do the Herunarth/Beleg post, if Val's willing to do it.

Rian - about your A&T elves. I suggest you start by using the placeholder #13 by scribe (page 2) and write about the Elves being present at the first dinner (Friday the 13 dinner). I guess they MUST be there, sitting at the places of honor. Gimilbeth's post #12 ends rather abruptly after Celebrimbor and Sulawen appear. It would be great if you tell about the dinner from the Noldor's POV. Sounds OK? Val I hope you will also find time to write a Beleg post for the placeholder #14. You were going to, IIRC

I have the 'Beleg-Herunarth' post on my list, as well as the 'Practice II' post for the other thread. But I had forgotten about this one. Can you refresh me on it? Was it basically Beleg's reaction to meeting Gimilbeth, and wondering what would have happened if his father had married her? (what would it like to have been HER son, what would HE be like, would he even BE?... stuff like that?)

It is up to you, Val, to decide whether Beleg has even heard this old story about his father almost marrying Gimilbeth. If he did - then he would think along the lines you have outlined. If not, then he will be greatly puzzled and worried seeing Gimilbeth's attention and her surreptitious tender glances and might even go ask somebody to clarify all this - maybe Gandalf? About the Practice II post: actually the story can be told in retrospect, can't it? Maybe it will add to the suspence?
