Great opening post, Val. Loved the description of the palantir and the tower room. Also I was thrilled by Celebrindol's reaction to Gimilbeth and his refusal to peek at her. Feeling guilty? ;D Hmm what will his wife say? Wauu, Old Gandy is coming!! You see now, Duilin, it seems Val had his own plans for Gandy all along. As for the thread name, I have taken liberty to change it to " Storms at Weathertop" without "Winter". I hope you don't mind, Val - If you do, I can change it back. My reasons: 1.There will be "Winter" in the next thread Shadow V, so having two threads starting with "Winter" will be confusing. 2. most of the action at Amon Sul still takes place in November. 3. Technical - I cant squeeze "Winter Storms at Weathertop. Shadow over Rhudaur IV" into the title line. It is one word too many. Duilin, now that the Weathertop Thread is open, I suggest you repost your Bree posts (#24 and 25 from Shadow II) here dating them Nov 12 and 13. Then, when we are on Nov. 14 you could repost the Fireside Inn talks and Aegnor's post. Does it sound agreeable?

No problem on the name change.
Yes - Celebrindol has his wife there when an 'old flame' (if she really was that) comes along - and also his father-in-law, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, etc. ;D

Poor Cel! ;D We have to really decide beforehand, Val, what happened back in 1307. I suppose Celebrimbor and Beleg's mom (what is her name again? : had had "mutual understanding" of the "soul-mate kind" long before Gimilbeth came to Arthedain with her father. Then Malvegil and Tarnendur concieved a brilliant idea to reunite Arnor by marrying their children. I think the pressure on Celebrindol to marry Gimilbeth was very high. I don't think he disliked Gimilbeth from the start, maybe he was even quite appreciative of her many charms, but when the marriage was being forced on him, he became stubborn as a mule. The future Mrs Celebrindol must have had a big scare at the time (in 1307) and likely she still hates Gimilbeth and maybe also Malvegil. And I guess Malvegil often bites his son "If only you were not that stupid, you would have been King of Arnor!" What do you think?

Okay, so I've reposted the Prancing Pony post and the one on the road. Is that what was envisioned?

I think in the "too close" bit, you should add "... he could see a bit of meat stuck between her front teeth ..."

Rian, please, if you have time, have a look at the fifth chapter of Intrigues and Sorcery - we haven't posted our story for 3 weeks!
