I have continued the tale about Agannalo's Mirkwood adventures. Have a look in the placeholder # 181

Gordis, great post. When several different types of mystical, magic creatures clash, the situation always presents interesting possibilities. You did a great job handling this one. More, more!

Gordis, great post. When several different types of mystical, magic creatures clash, the situation always presents interesting possibilities. You did a great job handling this one. More, more! Thank you, Angmar. That is exactly what makes it so difficult to write: with those magical creatures you never know what is right. I could have written several Daurendil's posts in the time it took me to write this one! Trolls, for example: what if one hits a nazgul with a club? Will the nazgul be wounded? Will the club desintegrate or not? I guess not - as Aragorn says "All blades perish that PIERCE this dreadful King". So a club seems to be a good weapon against nazgul, better than a sword.

Gordis, your hard work certainly paid off! Brilliant post... loved the trolls, loved the bit where the W-K is impatient at Agannalo's embellishments, and loved the teaser about It. Agree with Angmar - mre, more!

I guess not - as Aragorn says "All blades perish that PIERCE this dreadful King". So a club seems to be a good weapon against nazgul, better than a sword. Gordis, Elfhild and I have gone over this question time after time for years. We have concluded, based on a lot of research and conjecture, that they can be bruised and battered, but they heal quickly, especially if magic is involved. The only specific instance in which a weapon will be destroyed by contact is the one you quoted. The signifcance of the Blades of Westernesee seems to be that since they had some strong magic, that they could destroy the spells that protected the Nine from mortal peril. I suppose this could be compared to a "force field" that gave them special protection against being killed. I know it's difficult to write this. You're doing an excellent job.

Thank you again, Angmar and Serenoli.
I think weapons desintegrate at the contact with nazgul blood, therefore the arrows and all other piercing weapons are useless. So, even with a sword, it is better to try to hit the nazgul with the flat of the blade than to try to draw blood. Clubs and maces should be better. Conjecture, of course...

Very good post, Gordis! I like how you write for the Nazgul - it seems very realistic. Val - the king and your women are waiting for you ... (just in case you forgot ... right! )

Gordis - I was just looking thru the PJ thread, and the last post I could find with Gimilbeth's group was on Nov. 8. Is she supposed to actually arrive at Amon Sul in this thread? That would be a good closing post for PJ (Perilous Journeys), and you could make a nice closing line that references the title.

Gordis, like you, I think it is the Nazgul blood that causes the weapons to vaporize. Of course, this idea will be met with opposition from those who insist that the Nazgul have no bodies. Several years ago, some would be quite vehement in maintaining this position. However, I don't see such vocal opposition as much as I once did. I think a lot of it left when the movie crowd became bored and went their own way. Always an interesting topic of discussion. By the way, I have posted Valandil's outline in the Introduction section of the board. Although I am sure it must be on this forum, I never can find it. ;D The text I used came from my own notes. I have also added a thread for the discussion of the distant future of the "Trouble in the North" section. (We need to settle on a name for this next section of the game.)
