Thanks, guys, for the wishes! I did have a great time... and with the New Year, the weather has improved as well. Was cold and windy and is now hot and humid. Not much of an improvement according to some, but for a cold-prone girl like me, humidity is ideal... Elfhild, great post. I have also got up a Nauremir/Hurgon post, that you really need to look at, cos Nauremir keeps talking in it. So, any edits, any changes in his style of talking etc, and you just let me know. Val Lol. Sarador leading a double-life. By day, creepy saw-master and embalmer, and by... well, still by day, dignified silver-haired manservant. Yeah, the names thing happens sometimes to me as well. Good post, meanwhile. Unconciously, you seem to have made two of the kids scared stiff and one mute, and there is a half-wit there, too, which makes me wonder just what our chief embalmer has been threatening them with... lol.

Serenoli and Elfhild, both of you wrote two truly enjoyable posts!
“… that the witch you work for has forbidden it, yes?”
The witch you work for. ;D

Great posts, Elfhild and Serenoli! In Serenoli's post I loved how Nauremir made Hurgon choose between painting and a hit on the head . In Elfhild's post it is clear that Nauremir has changed from a hothead he used to be into a more thoughtful type. Dying once makes you a lot wiser! ;D After all, he saw the witch playing tricks with his poor family and sending his poor mother into a swoon - but still he went away to think what to do, instead of wringing Gimilbeth's neck here and now. I have a tiny nitpick for Elfhild: they are already within the walls of the fortress as the crypt is at the base of the hill where the central tower stands. So, Nauremir couldn't have gone into the woods outside. He could only hide among the trees/shrubs by the castle wall or something, watching the crypt. I think it is a great asset for Gimilbeth to get rid of Daurendil best friend and adviser. For Gimilbeth to become Queen, Daurendil should go to Njamo. But she has few guys loyal to her - here is her problem. Most hate the Witch. What to do with Nauremir? I am not sure what to advise, but I think Nauremir should try to see his parents or at least his granddad Ormendur- the lord of Brochenridge. Let Gimilbeth get out of the crypt - she is bound to become suspicious of this "apparition" and would hurry to go check Hurgon's wagon. Nauremir's mom would be carried to her rooms, her husband likely coming with her. That leaves Lord Ormendur in the crypt alone. Nauremir could watch the crypt and see the possibility to approach his Grandfather alone. Then he could tell him the truth and Ormendur would undoubtedly give him money and advice and promise to let his parents know - when things calm down. I think the Lord of Brochenridge is likely acquainted with the royals of Arthedain. After all, in 1323, 23 years ago, Arthedain Army helped Tarnendur to free Rhudaur. Likely the Arthedain army was led by Celebrindol - Beleg's father- and it had to pass Brochenridge. (What do you think about it, Val?) If so, and even without a prior acquaintance, Ormendur can give Nauremir a letter to the Lords of Arthedain, asking them to shelter the fugitive for some time and keep his identity secret. Then there would be no need to stay apprentice at Amon Sul - he could stay as Helmir - but a noble. And nobody thinks it is for long - because everyone still hopes that Gimilbeth will bring help from Arthedain and get rid of Broggha once and for all. But Elfhild, you haven't replied yet - Do you want Nauremir to eventually become one of Beleg's companions for the rescue of princesses expedition at the end of the game? What do you think, Elfhild and ALL?

Really liked the Caelen post - the one with the apples. ;D Good joke. thanks - I took your apple theme and added Val's teaching theme, and that little saying just popped into my head! And a belated Shubho Noboborsho to you! I've been gone all weekend - my husband and I were able to get away for our 21st anniversary for a weekend together without the kids! Yay! Very nice and relaxing. And now I'm ready to attack my awful post in the current chapter thread ... *rolls up her sleeves*

OK, I finished editing my post in "the published story - newest chapters - current chapter, editing in progress" thread, post 14 (the old version is post 1). There are so many changes that I just made a new post out of it. Could you guys please check it over, especially you detail people? I made some references to a thanehold, an inn, etc., and I want to make sure it jives with what we've decided about these things. I guess C&C's family could be considered small-scale thanes? Anyway, kind of old, established "good" family with good-sized lands of their own. Maybe not thanes, but I don't know what category, if anything, we decided they'd be in. Anyway, comments very much needed and appreciated - this post has been a monster for me!

I see no fault with your new post, Rian - but then I liked the old one as well. Just tell me when I may post the next chapter on OSA. I have posted a follow-up in Shadow III. Let us search for this mad Helmir! ;D

Rian - according to my concept (if we choose to follow it) - it seems like C & C's family fits best into what I termed the "Householder" class - they are the highest level of 'commoners' - while Thanes are the lowest level of nobility. Householders could be much like the landed gentry in old England (our previous comparison to the Bennet family of Pride and Prejudice is very apt) - and the equivalent military rank would be a knight, not a common soldier, or man-at-arms. If this helps, a Householder would probably have a moderately large house and several other buildings, on maybe 250 acres of land (I'll have to dig up my notes to verify the amount). They would usually have servants - maybe even tenant farmers working part of the land. Between extended family, servants and other hirelings, there might be anywhere from 30 to 100 people who were part of a given "household". Anyway - there's nothing in your post which is at odds with this concept - so if C & C are from a respectable "Householder" family, that fits well with the post. As a further FYI - I think among the Dunedain, the social distinction between noble Thanes and common Householders would be minimal - just so both were indeed Dunedain. Oh - and Brun sounds like a Thane - because he should be a little "above" C & C in rank, though far beneath them in character. He could be a Hillman Thane (or partly so), or a fallen Dunedain. I think the majority of Dunedain in Rhudaur would be somewhat "fallen" by this time, although there's still a remnant. Gordis - for future reference, and to help us stay consistent, should we try to pinpoint about where in Rhudaur C & C's family home was?
