Introduction & Welcome Thread

Angmar - I've probably said I would post my "history" here about three times, but haven't followed through and done so yet.

First of all, sorry about that.

Second - where would you most prefer that I post it? Or - how much ability does this board give you to move threads around freely, in case I place it somewhere and you decide it fits better somewhere else?

To me, the most likely candidates seem to be either: Introduction Forum, Roleplaying Forum, Roleplay Planning Forum - or else this very Welcome Forum.

Preference?

PS: For newer-comers, this "history" I reference is a working document I've put together to act as a framework for my own stories on Arnor, her daughter kingdoms and the northern Dunedain. It's somewhat similar in structure to the Chronicles of Numenorean Kings found in UT. I began it with "known" information (that given by Tolkien - for my own purposes, whatever I could find in LOTR, Silm, UT, HOME, etc) - then fleshed it out as much as I could or wanted with my own ideas, but taking pains to at least not contradict JRRT. It was not intended as story itself, but provides hints of 'story nuggets' that I desired to expand upon at some point.

It was one of those 'nuggets' which inspired some of us here to weave together this RPG.

I think Val, we have to ask Angmar to make a new section: Fanfiction forum, or something like that, to post independant (from the RPG) stories.

Does it sound OK?

It's OK with me. I wondered if we wanted the history more tied in with the gaming part, but it may not be necessary, since Angmar gives an excerpt in a thread of the Introduction Forum.

I think it is good to have a place when one might also post unrelated to the RP stories - provided they are about the Dunedain and/or about the North.

ps - If you want to read the story from the beginning, go to "The Published Chapters" forum, then "Newest Chapters", and read "The Final Version of Part I - Runnings". Gordis put the posts in order and we edited them. We're currently doing that to part II, too.

Val, I just made a forum for Northern fanfiction on the main board. The description is long but fits. ;D

Unfortunately, Proboards does not allow for individual posts to be taken out of threads and placed elsewhere, but whole threads can be moved.

Mithlomi is a character I've been thinking of recently, and I'd be more than glad to work on her around RP's here. Where would you suggest I start? Is there anywhere I can jump on in?

Welcome to our group, Mithlomi! We are always glad to have new people with us. You asked for suggestions on where you should start in. The first thing you should do is go to northernkingdom.proboards98.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=1190070725 and read "Valandil's Outline." This gives the overall basic plot of this roleplay from the beginning to the end. The RPers here stick to this basic outline but we leave plenty of leeway to develop your own characters and take part in many of the threads.

You will find the people here are eager to help new players, so if you have questions, just ask. If you need help on anything - how to get an av, etc, just ask.

I plan to check out LOTR Plaza. Again, great to have you.

Welcome, Mithlomi!

There is only one RPG on this site and we have been playing for 2 years already, I think.
The RP has very many characters and a plot already more or less agreed upon - the main signposts of it, at least. It is set in Arnor in TA 1347 and is based on LOTR Appendix A and Valandil's story (see the link in Angmar's post).

To jump in you will have to read the story - or at least some of it.

I suggest to read it following the links below, if you have time and are interested. It has been made into a coherent story, with chapter titles and all.

If you read only these threads, it would be enough to jump in, I think. It won't be difficult to get in a new character, or take one already introduced, that has to be played by someone anyway.

You may post your character info in the "Character information" thread and we shall discuss it. Likely some alterations would be needed to fit it in. Here we have less leeway than in most RPG's, please keep this in mind.
