1. There will be some kind of formal greeting from the elves to the warden when Gimilbeth's company arrives. This can be as simple as them only revealing themselves at the end, and Gimilbeth can see them step up and bow to the warden as she is being led off. I won't put in any conversation.
I think We shall have to change the following reference in Annundil's post #5:
"“Yes Lord,” replied the man. “A barracks was made ready for the soldiers of her escort, and a room by the gate was set up for the Dwarves. The teamster can stay with the soldiers, and the Elves as well, if they like.”"
That was a bit condescending- as if the two Noldor were of no importance. I suggest: "
But there are also two Elves in the party, High Elves by the look of them. What lodgings should I give them?"
"Bid them come here after the interview with Lady Gimilbeth is over. I wish to greet them myself. It is not often these days that we see High Elves grace the fortress with a visit"
Something like that - what do you think? Val - could you, please, put something like that in, phrased better of course?
Rian: Either they can be at the first dinner, or they can beg off with some excuse that sounds good, and this can be done when the seating arrangements are discussed ("the elves should have been at this table, too, given their high lineage and connection with Rivendell, but had graciously begged to be excused because of some urgent business of their own... his men had seen them standing on the ramparts, heads bent together in close conversation, ..etc etc". Actually their urgent business is to avoid a boring men's banquet! ) But now I'm having second thoughts - I prob. should have them attend - but that will mess up all the seating arrangements. Is it worth it?
I think there won't be much problem with sitting arrangements. And it will be great, Rian, if you describe the end of the first (Nov.13) dinner from your Elves' POV.
We have to ask Val for some edits again, mainly to #9:
"When Annundil had word that Lady Gimilbeth and her two escorts as well as the Elves were ready and would be arriving at the dining hall shortly, he rose from his seat by the fireside, sent for his wife Erebloth, and with her arm in his, strode down the connecting corridor that they would be present to receive them"
I suggest the addition in blue.
"But then Annundil paused for just a moment. The two seats which would be just to his right were also still vacant. Where were Celebrindol and Sulawen? Beleg was in his place after that, then two seats reserved for the Elves, then Aramacil, Estelien – and the maiden Calafornien, who kept Nonentir’s children under a watchful eye."
I suggest the addition in blue.
Then we have
"The doors behind him opened once more and a servant announced the arrival of the Lady Gimilbeth, Lords Tyaron and Alagos of Rivendell, Hurgon of Cameth Brin and Barund of Brochenridge."
# 12 (Gimilbeth's) I have already modified - additions in blue
Now the placeholder # 13 is all yours, Rian.
Rian 3. I'd like for them to be at the dinner of Nov 15, when Gandy is there, and I have some ideas for that. We'd have to figure out where they would be seated.
I have added them to my post #22 - in blue. I don't know where they are seated, somewhere near Celebrindol and Beleg, I believe, as Gimilbeth now sits with Cardolan delegation.
Rian: 4. Is there some formal dinner for the 14th? The first dinner seems to be the 13th, and the next with Gandy is the 15th.
I think there was nothing on the 14. The 13 was a Friday - a holiday and G's arrival. The Nov. 15 reception was to honor the Cardolan delegation. I don't think there will be anything until next Friday - the 20.
