Picky stuff: What does his name mean? I know the "-tir" part is watcher/seer, but i consulted several dictionaries and the back of the Sil and couldn't make heads or tails of the rest. (Valandil: the link to the post for editing is in my last post in this thread, end of page 1. Just in case you didn't see my edit.

You know what... I just don't know! I'm surprised. I usually either mix & match prefixes and suffixes, or else just come up with something from a particular dictionary I have. I wonder if I miswrote something, and kept using it that way. Perhaps I meant something else. We can change it a little if you like. Apparently there are still few enough references. 'Nolentir'? BTW - I removed the references to Annundil's daughter-in-law and to Nonentir's children. For now - I just left it that Calafornien is keeping a watchful eye on Nonentir, but if you don't want Vorondariel to have the competition, let me know. ;D

We can change it a little if you like. Apparently there are still few enough references. As-is is just fine! I was just wondering since i couldn't find any possible components that made sense. There were some vague bits i found for the 'no' and 'nen' parts that had to do with 'over' and 'under' and things like that - very vague, but i thought maybe you had meant something along the lines of an over-seer who is under another over-seer or ... in reference to his future Warden position but right now he ranks under his father. It can remain ambiguous, no problems there! Unless you think it should be changed? Thanks for playing along! Oh, you didn't?! Isn't she a little young for him, and besides, if i remember correctly, doesn't she have her eye on Beleg? Or maybe she just has her eye on all the men under a certain age. Perhaps one haughty and icy glance from Vorondariel would be enough to put her in her place remember, she out-ranks her and is older. But that sort of thing also stands to bring out the utter worst in Vorondariel best not to go there! Remember also that i have someone special in mind for this 'role'. I have plans for writing a love story as a team with him. And, he is interested. If you want details, PM me. ;D *ETA* --- What am i thinking?! Here's what we'll do, if you agree: Vorondariel came with that same party, remember?! So, she would be there! She's just been quiet all this time Why not just say that Calafornien was sitting there, perhaps watching Beleg, and next to her was Sulawen's lady-in-waiting, who had her eye on Nonentir. Easy!

OK *sigh* - I changed the focus of Calafornien's gaze. I mentioned Vorondariel, but elected not to have her looks toward Nonentir so noticeable. Mentioning that about two ladies in one post, both as asides, seemed a bit much. So - she could certainly have been doing it, but being a little more discrete, didn't make anyone suspicious about it. Glad to hear you are working out an arrangement for a player to do Nonentir. We'll leave the decision about his name open for now (the player could help decide). On the one hand, I like for the names to make sense - on the other, we don't really know the definitions of all the word segments JRRT used anyway (ie, 'phant' and 'narth' - unless that latter has to do with fire). I'll PM you later. I'm off for an overnight 'Rookie Camp' with my middle son.

OK *sigh* - I changed the focus of Calafornien's gaze. Ah, you are great! I just know i wouldn't enjoy making this a 'competition' story at all. Lets leave that stuff to the likes of Tamyris and Sirien! ;D Oh, perfect, and much more in keeping with Vorondariel's character (and i agree, that would be overkill). And the way you wrote it, it could almost seem that she might even be sitting next to him anyway. Maybe Sulawen, et al, have been waiting for this to happen for quite a long time? Remember that 1. Vorondariel is a bit older than her other ladies, and 2. we already know she is not interested in the younger boys, and just rolls her eyes at the antics of the younger ladies So, she's kind of in an in-between point, generation-wise, and i would imagine so is Nonentir. I thought of that, too, though i think either way it won't make much difference for him. I totally see what you mean, and agree. Have FUN! ;D I'm going to have a bit more of Vorondariel's top-of-tower experience finished by later today. She's going to love it so much up there that she wants to go back, and eventually attempts to do so alone, without the aid of Gandalf & co. Of course, she gets caught..... i'll leave the rest of that thought as one of those surprises for my fellow players (well, all but one ).... but i'm sure anyone can figure out where this is going.

You know Voronwen - the more I think about it, I may have meant for Nonentir's name to be "Nolentir" or something like that. Then at least it's either "wise watcher" or "watcher of wisdom" or something like that.
Should I change it around to that - before he gets too much more mention?
