Hello Duilin. I hope i can answer this well for you...
Yes, and yet, no...
Of course! We would think... but as far as i know, we don't have any information in the canon stating that they did not have mistresses, as medieval royalty in our own world would have (please correct me here if i need it, i would appreciate it!). But this is rather beside the point, as for the purposes of my story (which doesn't really concern the story here, other than the fact that i have created Vorondariel as a descended relative of Voronwen's), i have taken the stance that by the time of Voronwen's story, Elendil has long since been a widower.
I have looked for this, and could find nothing - not even as much as a name. All i've found to go on is one very ambiguous reference in The Lost Road that could be construed as looking back on his marriage in the past tense. There really isn't much to go on at all.
Nobody knows for certain, but given the afforementioned reference, i would think that she died sometime pre-Akallabêth. Perhaps in childbirth? Again, there is no mention of her fate anywhere that i could find. There is also no mention of a first queen of Arnor, either, so we could possibly deduct that there was none.
Unfortunately, as there's so little to go on, a good amount of conjecture is a necessary evil.
Voronwen's story is my own work of fanfiction, and still very much a work in progress. Please know that i am doing everything i can to remain respectful of the canon and to write a respectable, believable story. I wouldn't have it any other way.
All you would need to know about Voronwen for the purposes of this game is that she was indeed his companion for a brief time, long after his wife would have died. Vorondariel is not a direct descendant of hers, as she had no children of her own, but is descended from her brother.
If you are really interested, the original version of Voronwen's story is this poem. This is where the verses that the Amon Sul librarian recites to Gimilbeth will come from - probably from the third to last stanza.
so Voronwen was Elendil's mistress?
Yes, and yet, no...
Rather disreputable for one of the Faithful, no?

What was the fate of Elendil's wife, BTW?

Did she die in the downfall?

Where would I find the background on this? Another fanfic site?
