To take off from your other idea - Vorondariel is descended from a brother. Perhaps this brother - or his son, Voronwen's nephew (so that he's younger), escaped from the persecution of the rest of the family - either rescued by Elendil or other Andunie family member - or, as you say, was already in ME. He later became an official in the household of Elendil (or - would that cramp things - having her brother around?). Probably wouldn't want the brother around too much but a nephew would be less likely to meddle in her affairs, perhaps? You know......... All of this is just too good to waste... I've been thinking... Perhaps it all deserves an RPG of its own? I'm sure she would have been a great hostess, and we already know of her writing hobby Perhaps in Vorondariel's part of the story, Gandalf knows who she is, and thinks on her likeness to this great-great-aunt? ;D !!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! ;D What a tie-in!!! This is all GREAT! I have so much to think about now. I'm utterly thrilled!

: : ... Perhaps in Vorondariel's part of the story, Gandalf knows who she is, and thinks on her likeness to this great-great-aunt? : : Except that Gandalf didn't come to Middle Earth until about 1000 years after Voronwen died. It IS possible that he either saw her in his pre-Gandalf/Olorin days - when he was hanging out with the Elves in his invisible state. OR - maybe there are some images of Voronwen that he had seen, either in Arthedain or in the very library at Amon Sul.

It IS possible that he either saw her in his pre-Gandalf/Olorin days - when he was hanging out with the Elves in his invisible state. The only way i could see this having happened would be if she had gone to Rivendell maybe to see her lord off before the war (that's the only reason for her presence there that i can think of, though i feel that she said her goodbyes when he left Annuminas for the last time - anything else would be too showy, if you know what i mean?). But... I think this would be more likely. ETA - the only other possibility would have been, him seeing her at Emyn Beraid (and what ever was she doing there, anyway? ). But i don't want to involve him too much. I thought he could "recognize" the family resemblance in Vorondariel somehow, but he doesn't even have to be the one to recognize it. Or if he is, it would only be a brief mention of how alike they are.

Would i?! If you think i am ready for this, then, sure! If i do anything to mess things up, just tell me and i will detele it (or you can). Talking to Gandalf would be a good way to introduce Vorondariel's deep connection with and love for the past. She's a little historian, in her own right so this would be a good opportunity for her to step out of the shadows and into the story. I think it could make a wonderful intro post. Just write it! It is necessary only to read Amon Sul thread. Sulawen is the native of Amon Sul, daughter of the Warden. She, her family and her ladies normally live in Fornost but come to Amon Sul every year for the Yule. So, probably Vorondariel had already been in Amon Sul several times and knows everyone of importance there. I guess she has heard a lot about him and knows he is in the fortress, but likely she has never spoken with him before. It is done, I have edited Gimilbeth's post - so you can include some verses into your post. It is quite possible. Several people in Tarnendur's suite came with him from Gondor (including Gwindor and Elvigil). Naturally they had servants, pages, esquires etc. So, there is no problem for someone to come from Gondor to visit family in Cameth Brin. Also, Gimilbeth had been on a visit to Gondor and Umbar 20 years ago and might have brought additional servants. Nothing special - you simply register again.

But... I think not Gandalf but the two Elves: Tyaron and Alagos might remember how Voronwen looked like. You should ask Rian, their minder. The Elves might have mentioned the likeness to Gandalf. I believe T&A were in Gil-Galad's army - why not? As you remember, at Amon Sul Elendil long awaited Gil-Galad and his army. Long... very long... likely he took Voronwen with him to sweeten the waiting. I don't think she would follow him to Rivendell, though...So the Elves of Gil-Galad may have remembered her.

Ok, every second year. Still it seems like Vorondariel has already been to A.Sul before.

Wait, so Voronwen was Elendil's mistress? (Rather disreputable for one of the Faithful, no?) What was the fate of Elendil's wife, BTW? Did she die in the downfall? Where would I find the background on this? Another fanfic site?
