I don't know what to choose. Trouble in the North, though a catching title, seems inappropriate as we have to incorporate south events as well. And it will be a large part of the thread, once Rian and Val warm up. Winter Storms sound nice, but the major problem I see is that there won't be any storms to put it literally. The weather, thanks to His Northern Majesty, is going to be exceptionally mild. Also see Val's observations on Amon Sul - the Windy hill in the previous thread. Now we have Winter Woes, Bleak December and The Winter of DiscontentAll three seem OK to me. If one of you have arguments why one of them seems better than the others, PLEASE, post them here! I need advice to vote!

You could take Winter Storms as a reference to the tumultuous events that will take place, instead of referring to the actual weather.
Bleak December may be the only weak one, IMO, as the events may span longer than just that one month.
As for the others, I really have no actual preference, and don't wish to push my vote on others who may have a genuine preference. That said, Trouble in the North has been used for a while now, that I had thought it had gone from temporary to permanent.

Earniel, No, "Trouble in the North" has been used for want of any other name. It is not permanent. I have no real preference on this, so if others have suggestions or offerings for other names, please feel free. Gordis, very good points you raised about the title.

Now - " the Winter of Discontent. I have Googled it, and found out it is not only the opening line from "Rhichard III" by Shakespeare, but also a reference to rather recent (1978-79) events in Britain: widespread strikes by trade unions demanding larger pay rises for their members. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_of_DiscontentSo is it suitable?

One thing I sort of wonder about is... could we end up 'writing toward the title'? I'm not sure if we all have in mind what will happen this winter (And might it actually be rather peaceful? We don't plan any major deaths, Broggha and Gimilbeth are away... it may actually be 'the calm before the storm' - and sort of 'the last happy winter in Rhudaur').
Anyway - is it possible to outline the action we intend on, before settling on a name? Or - is there another name that's open-ended enough that it won't start pulling our writing in a certain direction?

You know what? I think it is a good idea to postpone our decision till the time this part is written. Likely we could think of a witty title then. For now I suggest to change the title to another temporary one - " Winter troubles" to get rid of the "North" restriction. It is dull, but it will do for now. OK?
