Hello, Annarima! Welcome to our rpg! I hope you have a long and enjoyable time with us The others gave you lots of good info to go on, already, but I'll add one more aspect. I don't know how many RPGs you've been on, but I think a more accurate description of this would be "cooperative/coordinated writing". In other words, we don't just write our own character's words and then wait for a reply, like: "Rian turned to Gordis and said, "What do you think of this new situation?" and then I wait for Gordis to write her reply. It's just too choppy that way, and takes too long. Each of our posts is often a mini-story, standing on its own, and that means we write for other characters. As was said, if it's just short, typical reactions, we don't usually coordinate with the other person. If it's more important, we usually drop a line in the discussion thread like, "Hey, Valandil, can I have Eryndil say such-and-such?" or we PM the person. For more important developments, we typically PM the person and work out an outline of the development, and then just go ahead and post and fill in the details. For extremely important posts, we even will check entire paragraphs, lines of dialogue, or the whole post with the person involved. It's just easier that way, and better than making a post and then having to make massive edits or throwing out the post. But to balance things out, there's lots of variables, too - I had something semi-planned with another person, and then a third one had their character come by, and it turned out really fun and interesting. So it's a nice mix of planning and surprises. Kind of like life I'd say overall, the things that characterize this group are love and consideration of Tolkien's works, and thoughtfulness and consideration of others, and having fun!

I probably scared her off Too much blabbing about coordinating posts! Just ignore my post, Annarima - you do as much coordination as you want to (and it's fun, anyway, to talk to people and cook up plots to surprise the others! ) Hope you join us

It just occured to me that it might be helpful for those checking out our site if we had an obvious place to go for basic site information. Maybe a thread called, "Introduction to the Northern Kingdom" or "About our Site" or something. Because the "Rules..." subforum is the first one listed, I wonder if that thread belongs there. Unless there's an even more obvious place to find it. I would be willing to start the thread / write-up the opening post, whatever... but it seems like our site founder should have the first opportunity, with maybe his underlings ( ) getting second chance. So... Angmar, Gordis, Rian... does that sound like a good idea? Is it even worth re-organzing a bit? Maybe the "Rules..." subforum becomes, "Site Introduction and Rules of this Forum" or something. Thoughts? EDIT: I just noticed we have a "Rules of this Board" subforum under the "Northern Kingdom Roleplaying" section, and a "Rules of this Forum" subforum under the "JRR Tolkien" section. Should we change the top one - the one under "NK Roleplaying" - to a Site Introduction subforum? (then again, maybe "Rules..." doesn't belong in the JRR Tolkien section anyway... )

When the forum was first started, I wrote some rulesto help contend with troublemakers who might wander in. As it is, we occasionally get a spammer who sends us some garbage. The moderators are wiping that nonsense out as it comes in. I think the time has come to have a separate section for orientation for new people who might wish to join the game. Val, anything you would want to contribute here on orientation and/or rules updates would be more than welcome.

I think that's a good idea - it's time to reorganize a bit. We started off with "just us" and a desire to write among friends, but now we're trying to reach out and get new people, and I think a more organized format would help. I'll think about it and come up with some suggestions.
