Val, great post, as I said.
I have taken liberty to insert a line in it though:
The last time, it had been her father’s disappointing re-marriage that brought her in haste from Umbar, cutting short her pleasant stay with her grandmother Serinde. I think it is clearer now.
Also I have slightly changed my previous post - have a look. And I PM'd you about Barund.

Eärniel - let's say dinner will be just a bit before sunset... : : Sorry Earniel - I'm changing my mind on this. I had forgotten about something. Gordis and I were already planning on this being a "Friday the 13th". To the Dunedain (and therefore, eventually to Hobbits), Friday was the closest thing to a 'sabbath' - it is named for the 'powers' - which are understood to be the Valar, and it is the last day of the week. The Hobbits marked it with a big mid-day meal, after which no work was done. Let's say that at least among the faithful Dunedain, it's considered a day of rest, and that the major meal time is different. So... for meals at Amon Sul: Saturday-Thursday: light breakfast and lunch, big dinner at about sunset or a bit later. Friday: light breakfast, big dinner at mid-day... later, whatever? (just digesting the dinner?) On this PARTICULAR Friday, dinner will not be served until about 2:00 or 3:00 though, because Annundil has decided to hold it for his anticipated guests. OK? It may make some of the others grumpy because they have to wait so long. ;D Does that mess anyone up?

Yes, Earniel, that would be fine... and I think it will be better if you post after Annundil's post, instead of using the Kirael's place-holder. By the way, I am always typing "Kirhael", and then correcting - somehow it sounds better with "h" , IMO. What does " Kirael" mean? And, Val - where will the dinner take place?

Great Annundil post (Val? its yours, right?) in the Storms thread. And, haha, thanks for thinking about my Hurgon. I have neglected him a lot - but you know, you were right, once he had recovered enough from the shock, he would, I think, enjoy talking at length about something so dramatic. ;D
By the way, I suppose the dwarves will rest a few nights there. Should I have the leader of the dwarves up to introduce himself and his people to Annundil and the rest? They are not really part of Gimilbeth's entourage... and I believe Beleg might want a chat with them?

: : And, Val - where will the dinner take place? Gordis - I think in a room close to the one where Annundil first received Gimilbeth. In fact, since you made this room a semi-circle, the dining hall, or great hall, could be the other half of the circle. Or else, it could be a bit larger and maybe be another room nearby - above or below. If below, not necessarily in the tower itself - I think much of the lower structure will be other buildings - the "wings" plus walls around them - that connect to the tower. Which of those options sounds good to you? I'll try to work up some Amon Sul sketches soon. Serenoli - yes, we should try to work in your Dwarves. I don't think Annundil will mind being their host for awhile. Do they want to stay all winter though? If not, pressing on soon may be a good idea, but maybe not quite as critical if they're going due south. So - they might be able to risk a few days. What do you have in mind with Beleg? That he might want to get filled in on what he's missing in Cardolan?

Hmmm... I suppose Amon Sul might be like Belgium all around - lattitude, cooking, etc. Can you handle that, Earniel? ;D Like Belgium all around, eh? So, fries and steak for dinner, it is? Sure, I can handle that. On this PARTICULAR Friday, dinner will not be served until about 2:00 or 3:00 though, because Annundil has decided to hold it for his anticipated guests. OK? It may make some of the others grumpy because they have to wait so long. ;D No problem, my post wasn't finished anyway so I just need to tweak a little dialogue. Yes, Earniel, that would be fine... and I think it will be better if you post after Annundil's post, instead of using the Kirael's place-holder. I'm toying with the idea of keeping the original post before and then do a little one after Annundil when they hear dinner's delayed. I'll just post another place holder after Annundil's post and see what I end up using. And they can always be moved accordingly in the final version. I admit I used my usual way of making character names, throwing sounds together which I think sound vaguely sindarin and otherwise interesting and see what comes out. I always liked the sound of Annael, the name of an Elf in Tuor's tale and wanted to use the -ael sound somewhere (although I suppose if you look linguistically at it, the 'a' probably belonged to the first part of the name, meaning gift). According to a little list I had of sindarin, 'kir' meant 'to cut' and it was a nice combination with the -ael ending. If needed I supposed the cutting part could refer to her job in the kitchen cutting food-stuff,or something. Basically I just liked the sound of Kirael. ;D

Well... beset by evil inspiration I have written a surprise post for Celebrindol and Sulawen. I am fully aware I am treading on your territory, Val, so please forgive me. You can edit whatever you like in my post - or I can delete it entirely, if you dislike it. It was just a weird idea that begged to be written.

thanks, Rian - a bit Sue-ish post , and easy to write... The post itself was not super-complicated, but I was praising your use of detail. I tend to not include any out of laziness, and the detail is a nice touch.
