I have given Carn Dum some introduction, which I felt was needed before Agannalo arrived.
Gordis, please make any edits on the architecture that you might feel needed. The stage now is set for the meeting between the steward and Agannalo. Feel free to write in Alassar as you feel best.

Great post, Angmar... but... the wrong thread. You should have put it in the Perilous Journeys instead of Troubles in the North, as it is dated November 8. No, no edits at all in Carn Dum architecture - it is perfect. The only thing that bothers me is the light snow. The snow along Angsuul was so thick that Agannalo couldn't ride around the town of Angoul and had to take the road through the town. It stands to reason that the snow around Carn-Dum should be thick as well - probably fallen during the storm described in one of your previous posts (was it around Nov. 1?) when Gimilbeth prayed to the Lords of Darkness and the WK stopped the storm. Anyway the thick cover of snow is the only thing that protect the plants in winter - so it is very beneficial to have one. The WK should see to it. By the way - if many if Carn-Dum nobles bleed themselves regularly like Alassar did, then it may be a nice place for Agannalo to stay. ;D

Great post, Angmar... but... the wrong thread. You should have put it in the Perilous Journeys instead of Troubles in the North, as it is dated November 8. Gordis, you are quite right. The post should have been in Perilous Journeys. I suppose I was thinking, "If the action takes place in the north, it goes in the Northern Campaign." ;D I will remedy this. I based the Carn Dum architecture on the common medieval fortress with additions I thought would be pertinent to Carn Dum. Yes, I plan to change that. The question that came to my mind - "what is a 'thick' snow in the US?" In the northern states, it might be several feet. However, when you consider a place like Atlanta, Georgia, where it seldom snows, half an inch might be considered "a major snow." ;D I'm not sure if some of those states even have snow moving equipment. I thought about that very thing when I was writing. ;D However, the sorcerers in Carn Dum won't share; they have plans for that blood. ;D

I have just posted for Gellam the innkeeper, dated November 30, two days after the army left Cameth Brin. My next post will be dated around December 4, when the army reaches Dol Duniath. Lord Belzagar will rally 100 of his own men-at-arms while the rest of the army relaxes. I plan to take this slow, or I will be halfway through the winter of 1347 and be all alone. ;D

I loved this post, Angmar. He-he troubles of the commoners... And the spoiled cat - great! Gordis, thanks. The commoners - with their bad teeth, pigs and chickens running through their houses, troubles and woes that the royalty never really understands - always interested me more than the nobility. That cat - I think he must be the king of the tavern, and everyone, including the innkeeper, must bow to him. I have seen cats just like this. ;D

Oh, yes, I loved Gellam's cat, Angmar and have known such cats - it always drives my father crazy, because he thinks pets should be much less spoilt, like a loyal and friendly dog, maybe, and doesn't get why we still insist on cats! Meanwhile, an adage comes to mind - the mice will play while the cat's away - and thats exactly what Authon's doing now Belzagar's away... ;D

Serenoli, glad you liked the cat. Remember he is there for another purpose, too - to catch the mice and rats that will be in the storerooms, making nests in walls, and making a general nuisance of themselves. I think he really likes the cat, too, but he won't tell anyone. ;D Authon does not regret Lord Belzagar's absence at all. In fact, he hopes he doesn't come back, and who but the spymaster's trusted assistant will be the one to fill his shoes.

I just posted for Belzagar, who described the arrival at Dol Duniath. The next part of the journey will be the arrival at Dol Mithlad, where the seneschal will provide both hospitality and 100 troops for the northern campaign.
Have fun. ;D
