Thank you, Gordis! She is turning out however to be quite a bit more than meets the eye... Her actual history involves having been a vineyard owner's daughter from an old Numenorean family in southern Gondor (the people of Anarion). Not a high noble, by any stretch, but from an old country land-owning family. She loses everything when a tragic disaster hits her father's lands, and after her life is saved she is sent away to work in Cameth Brin. My thought is that she has distant family there to be sent to - perhaps Gimilbeth's maid, Nimraen( ). Would you mind if we made Nimraen her distant cousin?

My thought is that she has distant family there to be sent to - perhaps Gimilbeth's maid, Nimraen( ). Would you mind if we made Nimraen her distant cousin? You may make Tamyris related to Nimraen for sure. Maybe better make her Nimraen's niece or a first cousin once removed. Nimraen, I gather, is in her 60-ies, for she came from Gondor with Gimilbeth 40 years ago, in 1407, and at the time she was around 25. The life expectancy for a Numenorean woman not of royal blood would be around 150-180, I believe; for royals around 210-230. The average age of marriage would be 30-50.

Thanks for the additional information re. Nimraen. Tamyris is quite young - the Numenorean/non-royal equivalent of about 19 years old - so, late 20s-ish(?). So making her a niece, or somesuch, would be more realistic, yes.
