Here's the situation: Merendil arrives at the scene after midnight, but before sunrise.
Here's the question: How do we want to date this (and later posts between those hours)?
Here's why there's an option:
(Nov 6) Our standard these days is that the date changes at midnight - so this will be most readily understood by readers.
(Nov 5) HOWEVER: In the reckoning of the Dunedain, the new day started at sunrise - so each date would be sunrise to sunrise (Appendix D of LOTR - the first paragraph to begin with "The Numenoreans..."), and the midnight after Nov 5 is still considered Nov 5 - as are the subsequent hours until the next sunrise. While this may cause slight confusion to readers at first, it's more true to Tolkien's setting - and therefore more educational (while the other might even be considered an erroneous form of dating, to those "in the know")
So... what do you guys want to do? And how should I date the post?
After considering the first, I'm now leaning toward the second. However, this isn't just about my post - it's about a standard for the rest of the game, which is why I definitely wanted the rest of you to weigh in. I did indeed make a poll. : and voted for No2. It seems more interesting - but might be confusing. Please, vote!

I went with number 2 as well. If initially confusing to some, it may make them ask the question and find out why - thus becoming educational. Plus - it is truer to JRRT's conception.

The underside of it is that we shall have to go through Shadow 1 and 2 - correcting them. I am sure we used the modern date reckoning.

Sorry - maybe that's a good reason not to change.
But I didn't recall any posts set in that timeframe.

I recall a few posts with dates something like "late night/early morning Oct 5/6", and that might be the way to go.

I voted for number 2. It seems more "Tolkien."

So the majority (4 votes) have chosen to change the date at SUNRISE.
