Hey all - I've reposted the introduction of Galphant, et al, post in this thread, since that's the evening of the same day of my last post, and seems to fit in reasonably well time wise.
I'll repost the Aegnor post once you guys get done with all the happenings at Amon Sul during November 13.
After that, I'll probably have one or two posts before my characters actually reach Amon Sul. I was also thinking of having Aegnor sent ahead to announce their arrival - the poor fellow doesn't get much rest. Also, my thought is that Galphant will introduce Duilin into his retinue as a purported household servant, and Thurisind will be some sort of horse-related servant, hired in Bree to replace another who fell ill.
I've forgotten when the Cardolan party is meant to arrive? My thought is that the forward group (Belecthor, Aegnor, and the rest), will wait at the Weathervane Inn for the latter group (Galphant, Duilin, Thurisind, etc.) to join them. Then the whole group will proceed forward. I assume that they'll meet in the afternoon on November 14 at the Weathervane - Aegnor rode fast to arrive and stop them, but it can't be so far ahead that it'd take the slower party more than a day to reach them.
Aegnor, I'm thinking will be sent off to Amon Sul in the mid-morning of the 14th by Orogost (the high steward of Cardolan), to warn the people in the tower of their imminent arrival. Assuming that he's riding at a gallop and doesn't stop (poor, poor Aegnor) when would it be reasonable for him to arrive? I imagine the larger group will probably be a couple of days behind.
I was also trying to think consistently about Aegnor's social class. My sense of him is that he's from some impoverished gentry family - clients of the princes of Baranduin, but of sufficiently noble birth to be treated as a gentleman, as Belecthor and Adrahil treat him. My thinking is this: the steward of a king is going to be a great nobleman himself (as Orogost is, or as is the House of Húrin in Gondor). The steward of a mere nobleman is a commoner, an agent hired by the nobleman to manage his estates. The steward of a quasi-reigning prince would be somewhere in between. Does this seem plausible?
Anyway, I'm hoping to actually get in some new writing reasonably soon. I'd like, if possible, to get Aegnor to Amon Sul as soon as possible, so I can join in on the interactions with everyone else - so far my posts have been sadly isolated. Would it be possible for him to get to Amon Sul by evening of the 14th? That might put me as able to write bits that actually engage with everybody else considerably sooner. Then the rest of the group can arrive on the 16th, or so.
